Would it be easier if we had the option?

Random pic of mine that I gimped ^^ Asked by kai_dono about 1 month ago, 9 answers.

How much people agree that it would be easier if we could delete questions on this site? Would it make things easier? Why can't we delete questions that we accidentally posted? Anyone have any Ideas?

If you no longer want to be associated with the question, simply go back to it under questions in your profile and mark it anonymous. It will no longer appear on the boards under your name but will be under the name of fau.

Can you imagine what would happen if people could delete their own questions and they decided they didn't agree with an answer -- they would simply delete the question depriving members who were watching the question and its answers of additional information. Much better is the anonymous feature.

If you accidentally post a question, I think you get a few minutes to edit it, until someone answers it, so you could edit it erasing the content of the question and it would then get deleted by an Advisor as not being a valid question.

Because as soon as you post a question, it becomes property of FunAdvice.com ...and THEY get to decide what stays and what goes.

Hmm, that makes sense, but what if that option existed and it only applied to the actual person who posted the question. What then?

How do you think most people find this site in the first place?

-Through a search engine.

How do you think the search engines find us?

-By the questions posted.

Now, if we allowed everyone to remove all their questions, what would the search engines pull up?

Ok, so what if there was a time limit? Like for instance, you can remove a question after 24 hours or something. How about that?

That falls under the same problem I posted...you're still removing questions that are needed to pull up results for search engines.

Some people find this site because they pulled up a question that was asked a year ago...if it brings people in, why would we remove it?
