Why wont my vista laptop work well?

Right so like 7 months ago I bought an £800 Laptop and I havent been getting on well with it, I cant install msn it slows it right down nor the sims nor itunes and even if I do the next day I vhave 2 dfelete it because it becomes rediculusly slowand also it takes forever to load.

Now my sis has a £400 pound 1 and hers works a million times better its really fast and you can keep programes on there without slowing it down
surely if mines top of the range at the moment it shjould work better right

anyone got any ideas as 2 mine doesnt work very well

P.S I Scan It Regularly & It if theres ever any issues I got rid of them right away

Does your sister's laptop also run Vista? To run well Vista requires a lot more resources than XP. My father-in-law just bought a fairly high end laptop with Vista, it would be very speed running XP but running Vista it is just adequate.

If the OS is the difference between the two laptops you might inquire about downgrading to XP, or if it will suit your needs you might try Linux.

yh I got £400 vista laptop and it works great ! but my friend has one which cost about £1000 and is really slow... I dont get it...

Often it depends on a few things - some brands charge more, but don't put good quality components under the hood. Mostly, at the moment any speed difference will be with Windows XP and Windows Vista. Vista needs at least 1Gb of Ram to work well. XP absolutely sings on 1Gb. 512Mb with Vista is really slow... you really notice the difference adding the extra 512Mb of Ram - but I can't say I notice a hell of a difference between 1Gb and 2Gb with Vista. If your laptop only has 512Mb, and Vista, I strongly recommend you add in some more Ram...
