Answer #8

My ipod has had the same problem, try doing what chucknorris87 did. If that doesn’t work, take out all the non-essential USB leads.

WARNING: This advice isn’t foolproof, I’ve done all that stuff and my iPod still isn’t syncing.

go to Apple.com and find the support section. it will show you the best way. I was reading through this wasitng my time. my problem was fixed 3 minuets after getting on the website.

I had the same issue with my iPod. On the apple forums, they call it ‘iPod Suicide’ because it basically stops showing up on your iTunes program. I tried a few different things:

I tried charging it through different means; using the outlet adapter charger instead of using the USB chord and hooking it up to the computer.

I reset my iPod. This takes off ALL of the music/photos/videos stored on your iPod and returns it to normal factory settings (which is basically reverting back to when you first opened the box). This is done because in rare instances, certain files are corrupt and can affect the way your iPod runs.

Update your iTunes software. iTunes updates about every other month or so and if you don’t have an up-to-date iTunes program to go with your iPod, it stops syncing and picking up on your iPod.

If all else fails, it may just be that your iPod has died and it’s time to get a new one. If it’s a newer generation iPod, i would suggest going into the store you bought it and seeing if they have an Apple specialist (BestBuy and Circut City i KNOW have one) who can give you some help.

Also, check out the apple website and look up your iPod to see what’s going on with the forums.

The way to fix it is 1st. hold the menu and center button down for a couple of seconds until it turns off. 2nd when it turns off quickly hook your ipod up to the USB/charger. 3rd turn the ipod on(it should have the apple logo on the screen). 4th you should hear that little noise your computer makes when your hardware reads a device that is in the comp. and sure enough your itunes should load up and there ya go your ipod is there…

hope this is helpful. (if not, try it a couple of times).

Hi,

“There could be something wrong with your Firmware, or your IPod’s firewire connectors. I’m guessing that if you send it to Apple for repair.”

From this thread where the person had the same problem: http://www.xsorbit1.com/users/dennx/index.cgi?board=mactechsupport&action=display&num=1050928648

It seems to be a problem with a LOT of people’s iPods…

Answer #16

Chucknorris87s way worked for me if you just hold menu and the middle button it resets your ipod and it will then connect to your computer it deleted all of my songs on my ipod but I had them all on itunes anyways then just resynced with my new songs :)

Answer #17

my iPod wont do any of that , it just says connected and it wont reset and it isnt recognized

Answer #18

okay my ipod is really new I just got it on christmas and now when I hook it up to my comouter it doesn’t charge or anything? I need help… what is wrong with it?

Answer #19

what if I have a ipod suffle and itunes wont recognize that its been plugged into my computer?

Answer #20

just reset all your settings

Answer #21

Hold the menu button and the center button down at the same time, hold it for a few seconds and then the apple image should appear. Give it a minute or so and the screen should appear up as normal. iTunes should then recognize your iPod once its all plugged in. it doesn’t delete any songs either (not in my experience anyway!)

Doing this has fixed a number of iPod problems I’ve had I.e. screen freezing, songs not transferring, half a screen showing up.

hope that helps:)

I’m having sort of the same problem. I have the ipod touch 16 g, and everytime I go to connect it to itunes, a message pops up that says “an iphone has been detected, but it could not be identified peroperly. please disconnect the iphone, then try again” I deleted EVERYTHING off my ipod, and then I deleted everything off my itunes. I deleted itunes itself, and re-downloaded it, na tuned my computer/ipod off and on, but NOTHING is working., can anyone please please help me. I just got it in march, and I dont have enoug money to go rush outan buy a new one, or send it in. someone told me that costs a lot of money.

Answer #24

when I try and connect my ipod touch to my itunes it says it can not connect this iphone because an invalid response was received from the device

Answer #25

Mine only shows up for the first 5 seconds then says its unable to detect what kind of I pod it is then gets ejected from the computer.

Answer #26

My ipod has the exact same problem, and it’s been like that for about a year. My father refuses to buy me a new one and trust me, the first few days I had a nervous attack and ended up surfing the radio channels for SONGS!
