Because we're the greatest country in the world for several reasons and we feel like as being such it's a responsibility of ours to help other countries out.

No one wants to attack Canada because no one's jealous of Canada, and if the US acted like Canada and did nothing, think of all the innocent people Saddam alone would have killed in the time between now and his death if he hadn't died. Then think about all the other maniacal murdering dictator's we've destroyed and all the innocent lives we've saved.

kamex no offence but your ignorant as hell. Realistically Canada has a lot of offer and it has shown that by having a better health care system, educational system, and enviromental system that are far better than the US. I think America is way to overated and people think way to highly of themselves and their country to the extent where it is not really considered nationalism. Yes The Us has done a lot for the world but it has also contributed to some of the most negitive things as well such as emitting green house gases and using over 1/3 of the oil in the world. I think the US needs to get a grip and consider all the issues such as the pointless war going on right now

using over 1/3 of the oil in the world.

Good point...but do you know who the top supplier of US crude oil is? Not Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Iraq, or Nigeria. It's Canada. And it's not just the US...Canada's role in world affairs is already being changed by the fact that the world's energy hungry nations are knocking at the door. Canada potentially has more oil reserves t every OPEC nation combined.

Canada is definately an environmentally conscious nation, but I have to tell you that the country's economy is somewhat dependent on exporting oil to countries that consume it more rapidly.

Americans like to kill stupid people. You are in serious danger obviously... Remember you had a problem with America staying out of everyone else's business, when you need America's help.

The US is the richest and most powerful nation on it. It's the only one that can actually afford to be in everyone else's business. If Canada could afford it, they'd probably be doing it as well.

I love our great nation but sometimes it is best to keep to what is going on in our own country besides butting our noses in other countrys affairs. We need to focus more own our own health care, education, homeland security, poverty, etc...

The US is the richest and most powerful but they gain their power and wealth by manipulation of smaller poorer countries. Canada does not do that and thats why nobody really hates us. Also Canada's military is mostly set out on peacekeeping and not peacemaking compared the US who are peacemakers meaning they try to make peace which really means they try to stop wars by force. I'm not saying Canada is the best country in the world but it's a hell of a lot better than the states

The US wealth and power is a historical phenomenon more than anything else. The US had massive untapped resources when settlers arrived, was ettled by relatively well educated people, and no feudal systems to crush productivity.

Yes, of course there has been plenty of exploitation of others in US history, ...the slave trade, the banana republics, etc., but I don't see that as the main source of wealth.

Semi1900 I'm just saying Canada is is portrayed more as a more peacekeeping country when it comes to it's participation in wars compared to the US. When you look back on wars in the last 100 years Canada usually has used peacekeeping effort instead of peacemaking compared to the states who have almost always used peacemaking efforts. By all means this is not a bad thing but fighting to try and stop a war just creates a bigger one as we are seeing this in todays society with the war in Iraq right now. Of course Canada does not have as big as interaction as the US but it does play a valued role in keeping the peace. The Us has done a lot of good in the world but also has been a big contributor to most negitive issues arising the world today. I think that the US should focus on improving their country before they start prying into other countries business

I hate to burst the bubble that is your distorted view on North American history and current affairs, but Canadian peacekeeping forces are deployed alongside American peacekeeping forces 99% of the time. You talk as if Canada behaves unilaterally when it comes to peacekeeping missions; it almost never does.

And Canada's history is also partially based on displacement of native populations.

The Us has done a lot of good in the world but also has been a big contributor to most negitive issues arising the world today.

Most of the negative issues today were caused by European colonial and imperial rule. Name a hot spot or conflict in the world today, chances are it exists because of the European power that used to rule that area (Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Indonesia...the list goes on).

The problem with blaming one country for all the trouble in the world is, that blame can easily be traced to other places. As I said before, who is your country's biggest trading partner? The US. Who do you sell most of your oil to? The US. Who do you usually take your foreign policy cues from, especially peacekeeping operations? The US. Canada does very little on its own; the land mine ban and a few other treaties are the exceptions.

There are a lot of things in Canada's foreign policy that I like, mainly on disarmament issues (land mine ban), environmental issues, and some trade issues. But I think you're oversimplifying the issue. Canada gets heavily involved in the affairs of other nations as well, although usually under UN authority. Canadian forces were involved in both the first Gulf War and the Afghanistan conflict, as well as UN peacekeeping operations in Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, and many others.

Also, it's incorrect to say no terrorists want to attack Canada. Remember this incident a couple years ago?

The world just might need a little help - foreign aid / emergency assistance / humanitarian assistance / compassion for fellow human beings - just a very few areas where te U.S. is by far the Leader - bad mouth the greatest nation on this planet if you like, falls on deaf ears with me, I know better.

I think that the US should focus on improving their country before they start prying into other countries business - when a country gets in real trouble, what country do they IMMEDIATELY call for help ? - how often has that country IMMEDIATELY responded in the affirmative to that request ? - what is the main reason France is not speaking German today ? - just one example of many.
