Why the womens shirts have the buttons on the other side not the same side like the men shirts.

It's just the way they are made, most probably so it fits females better

I always thought it was in order to tell them apart-just one of those little tricks to make life easier.

lol, it originates from the time when women (or men I can never remember which) had other people to help them dress up (the rich women ofcourse)... so it would be convenient for the helper to button them up...

Its tradition from the times when royal women would have maids to dress them.
It was continued on as a way to tell them apart from the mens.
