Why is everybody changing style?

Almost everybody in my school is turning punk or emo because they think its cool.
They don't even know what it feels like yet they just dress and say they are because everybody else is. Now people are saying that I'm going to change to but I'm NOT.

dont classify myself into a group. Plus, no offense to cheerleaders, but if you are out there with pom-poms and shouting for your team of whatever, your not emo, yet there are cheerleaders who say they are and it is getting really annoying. Now, my neighbor who LOVED country music three months ago now says it just bleh and now only wants to listen to rock. (I love rock and have for a long time). My friend dresses a lot in dark colors and my neighbor thinks she's goth or something(she isnt at all) and started saying stuff that she has never said before like..pink dosn't rock w/out black and stuff like that. I love all music(execpt some rap) and then she goes and says that some(not all) of the music that I listen to is boring and bleh like celtic music which I love also. Has anybody else noticed this change?

That's life. Fashion goes through fazes, and right now it's the emo/scene kid one.
Just like there was the hippie stage, the 70's looks, the hip hop stage, hell when I was younger it was cool to have a Raver fashion.
Things will change in the future, and we'll all laught at how funny we looked when we were younger.
That's just life.

yeah I've noticed it. I myself have changed my style more than once. that's how I am though. I need to change things, because I get sick of them rather fast. down to phones, emails, instant messenger screen names, colors, shoes, and styles. however, I don't walk around claiming to be one thing or another. im nicknamed punky, and its not how I dress, its because I have a very punk attitude. my styles vary. one day I'll be hiphop, one day im band tees, next day im wallet chain and dark clothes, and it cycles throughtout the week. fads come go dude. you'll see people go from emo to prep lol. that's just how it is...

yeh I noticed that, I was just looking at the advert next to this beside the comment thingo, and it says Gothic Prom Dresses lol...
