That’s not really a ‘natural thing’. My personal doctor said that your period (no matter how old you are) should not go beyond 2 weeks at MOST. And it certainly should be evaluated by a doctor to rule out various disorders like hypothyroidism, poly-cystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis, uterine cancers/tumors, ovarian cysts/ fallopian cysts, or other causes of dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

If she’s not experiencing any physical pain, and it’s really light, then it’s most likely a hormonal thing and she should STILL be evaluated by a doctor to correct the issue, but it’s probably not life threatening.

Tell Mom that you care about her, that you want her to be checked out by a physician because you need her around. Even if she thinks you’re over reacting, tell her you think she’s under-reacting and that you’re scared and that it won’t hurt to go get checked- even if you’re wrong. She needs to be a mature adult about this. Taking care of our health is a responsible part of being a grown-up. There is no option as far as not doing this especially if we have children. Parents have to be there for their kids; and setting a good example by taking care of ourselves is a must.

She’d want YOU to go to the doctor if you were having problems like that, right? So perhaps bring that up… Let her know she’s important and is worth taking care of her health.
