It sounds like you're getting too much sleep, which oddly enough will sometimes make you tired throughout the day if you're interrupting your REM cycle in the wrong spots.
If you're waking up early in the morning, just stay up; don't go back to sleep. If you're not waking up early, set your alarm for eight hours every night and stick to it. After a few days your sleep schedule will adjust and you should feel more alert. Resist the urge to go to go to sleep early. You're trying to train your body, and it's easier if you just pick the schedule you want to end up with and stick to it.
It's OK to take one nap a day, but set your alarm for fifteen minutes. Go much over that and you'll start interrupting your sleep cycle again. If you take a nap, try quickly drinking an energy drink or cup of coffee before you fall asleep. It'll kick in just as you're waking up, and you'll feel even more refreshed.
