Why do girls like makeup?

all girls like makeup, why do they like it?
I'm a girl myself, but I don't like it!!! I just like mascara, other than that, I don't like it!
but I can;t find any good reasons! why do girls like make up? they think they're ugly? or they're showing people another nicer face? I mean, if a guy loves a girl from how she looks, he would see her face with make up!! lol, why don't girls like to show the real them?!!! I mean, this is how you are!! just accept it!! make up will fill your face with pimples!!! even though mothers know that, they still put make up to their daughters!!! ugh!
I need good reasons why women/ girls love make up!!!

No, girls don't think they're ugly.
Make up can't make an ugly girl beautiful.
I wear make up because it emphasizes certain facial features.
It's natural for females to want to look attractive since it's part of finding a mate. Just like peacocks flash their crown for a potential mate, make up on the most fundamental level is to attract someone. Something we are meant to do.

If you don't care about your appearance, it means you don't have any respect for yourself. You take showers on a regular basis, don't you? Well, that's vain. People will like you whatever you smell like, and you must be insecure your natural odors if you shower. <- Through your logic of people being fake.

I think girls are wired to care about appearances and cleanliness
like we do with children when we have them
women like to take care of things, some try to make everything perfect
some don't
and make-up just makes something look pretty sometimes

We like things organized and stuff, and that includes our appearance. Tying in with make up. At first all I wore was mascara. Now I use more than mascara.

Its not that one thinks they look ugly but they just want to look nice. Some people do look nice with out make up. But its just a girl thing. :]

Why not? Guys like to shave sometimes. If they didn't ever shave they would look like amish. Haha. Sometimes people like to 'clean' up or we'd look like a bunch of cave men. Haha, don't get me wrong many people look fine without makeup and having beards but some just prefer to wear it. I wear makeup almost all the time, but I also enjoy putting it on and getting compliments sometimes is nice too! =] It's just a part of todays life.

Well first off make-up doesn't give you pimples unless you don't wash your face.
Most girls use make-up to enhance they're beautiful feautures and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Make-up is also considered an art, so when a girl has tons of make-up on (like scene or emo girls) its her way of expressing herself... her own form of art.
and boys sometimes where make-up too.

well that is a good question but I always wear make up. like whenever I go ANYWHERE I have to wear make up. some girls think they look better with it. and girls just like to wear it because they might have low self-esteem. that's why my bestfriend wears it.

I'm not a huge fan of make-up, mainly because I think it's way too much work, and just something I'm not good at, but most girls look nicer with makeup, it enhances their features... Just like a nice cut in clothing, nice shoes or jewlery do... Nothing wrong with making yourself look more attractive, it doesnt make a person fake or mean they're hiding their true self...

I dont wear a lot of make-up for a partyi might but not normaly well maybe moisturiser but I dont think that counts lol

it makes me feel like im dressing up (for going out, not as a clown!!!)
and I love dressing up...also its kind of a hobby for me
and I'm also really insecure and the only way I know how to hide that is through the use of make-up.and the most reason I was insecure was because two of my 'friends' used to always say reeeally mean stuff to me, just because they are 'prettier' than me and get more attention...ugh I actually can't stand them they are so mean and im still frends with them even though there not my true friends
so theres another problem...!!!

I liek make up because to me its fun. its like an art... like im painting a beautiful masterpiece but tis on my body. it doesnt make you any prettier, it jsut simply enhances your features. and its a way of expresssing yourself in tons of cool ways, like using eyeshadow

For me it started with having crap skin
sooo...
I covered it up.
Then I realized I could make my eyes look better too, not just my skin!
So then came the eye make up!
And it just when on and on until I used every kind imaginable.

I started out like the person above me. My Mom bought me this special make-up that covered up pimples but it looked like I had mud on my face.

Now that I'm in my fiftys, I need it for dark places around my eyes and for wrinkles and brown spots (old age)

I think girls wear it for the same reason I did, because I thought I looked a lot better with it on.but most girls don't really need it. They just think they do. It's when you get old that you really need it...mostly concealer though, lol.

Well first off, if you feel so strongly about the make up thing. QUIT USING MASCARA and saying you like it and all. You asking this question why not ask yourself why you like mascara.

Because it lengthen your lashes and make them more thick bold and beautiful right?
Well same to make up. They enhance everyone's look.

And not all make up destroys skin.
You're speaking of foundation and powder.

& those, I do not apply.

But eyeliner and eyeshadows really don't do any harm.
Mascara does if anything because when you wash them out, sometimes your lashes goes along with it.

not every girl wears make up and loves makeup and you proved that by saying that you dont wear or like it...

Make up is intended to enhance beauty..not create it...
so girls dont wear make up because they think they are ugly... maybe some do but makeup isnt magic...

I think most people like to enhance certain features..like eye lashes and lips and cheekbones..

Make up doesnt give you pimples or any type of skin problems if you wash your face and take care of it!

I can go WITHOUT make up, but I prefer to wear makeup just to show who I am in the form of my style.

It can help cover pimples, define certain facial features, AND make us stand out more.

Well once you place make up on your face, once you take it off, you're automatically missing something. And makeup, can bring more color to your face, it's able to match with your skin color and makes you look nice and clean. Unless you use too much... -_-

do you wear a bra? most women do , because for one for me the only reasons I wear one is to make my boobs look better. just as I wear make-up, to make my skin look more radiant and eyelashes darker, and lips more shiny. its not that big of a deal. I think everything is ok in moderation. if you cake on the foundation, yah...thats a little much. oh, and if you eat right and wash your makeup off every night, you wont break out from wearing it...educate yourself on that...
