Why do girls feel bad about themselves?

why do girls feel so insecure about them selves

sometimes but not always. right now I feel like dieing because they don't have pills 4 depression 4 teens only adults because they think its 4 them not us. they don't think that we could depressed so long. I have been depressed since I 13.

not all girls...depends on the person.
*some girls are insecure of different things.

-relationships
-weight
- physical features
and much more.
if you know someone who is insecure try helping them by saying the positive things about them. =]

That is a very good question. I think part of the answer is the strong image that society places on appearance. Everyone is beautiful in movies, soaps, commercials... It's all about money and profits. Beer commercials are full of cool gorgeous people. The message is more insidious than "Buy our beer..." --- it's "You too can live this life and look this good if you buy our beer."

It would be interesting to know if teenage girls in 1880 had such angst.

Because they are going through a lot of changes. Girls are starting drama, and talking about them. Making up lies and stuff. They will believe anything they here. They go through a lot of peer presure and they are getting in trouble by their parents so they feel like their not good enough. They see girls with HUGE breasts and all the guys are all over them. All the girls on Tv are perfect to them and they think they have to be just like them to be liked by anyone.

reasons why im insecure

people in the past have said things about the way I look/ act
the media shows us pretty girls who appear to be perfect and we feel like were not
having perfect and pretty friends who get all the guys

those are the 3 main reasons why I don't like myself ... but yea duno if that helped

I guess because they think if they dont look and act a certain way they wont be liked, and they're taught from a young age that relationships (all relationships, parental, sibling, friend, and romantic...) are what define you... so if they dont look and act that certain way they wont be liked, and if they've failed in the relationship department, they've failed in life... it puts a lot of pressure on a person to have to measure up to a social standard...
