Why do cats chase their own tails?

\m/ yeeahhhh Asked by ilovemetal23 about 1 month ago, 2 answers.

Lol so my cat does it all the time
Especially when shes quite hyperactive
And like she just tries to catch it and quite often, I see her chasing it and she just goes crazy over it.
And like she'll be sleeping and all of a sudden she sees it move a...

tad, and wants to catch it
Does anyone know why they do that?
Like, do they not think its apart of their body or what?
..odd o_o
