Why can't i help my friend's smoking problem?

My friend has got this friend who tried a cigerette and he tried to offer one to my friend but she said no {thank gawd!} but l8ter she told me she only said no because her mom would have seen her. Then she told me that she wishes everyday that she tried...

it or that she will try it in the future. I think this is stupid cause smoking can kill and it could put her in juvi if she gets caught. And I already talked to her{ didnt listen to me} and I think she will do it cause she tends to be more follow the crowd rather then be a leader. I promised her I would not tell anyone. I dont know what to do. Please help.!

If she wants to smoke, its really her decision.
I know you're trying to look out for her,
But the problem with cigarettes is that the consequences are extremley long-term, so its hard to think that they are having a negative effect on you.
So really all you can do is give her the facts and be there for her,
But in the end if she wants to smoke that much she's going to do it whether you like it or not.
I know people'll probably think im being stupid,
but if it is the case that she WILL smoke, then you might as well stay friends, unless you dont want a smoker as a friend.

My husband smokes some and it breaks my heart. So I can tell you from experience that no matter how good of a friend she is, if she wants to smoke, she will. As hard as it is, you must accept that she has free will and you must allow her to experience the consequences of smoking. Hopefully there will be a vaccine or pills to help people stop very soon (like Chantix). Good luck!
