Why are my period so clumpy?

Last month I had my period for 24hrs then old blood for a day or two after that rarely though then this month I was 3 days late and am having a lot of bright red almost purple blood clots thick ones and sometimes come out in strings like slime …why? is this normal should I be conserned …I don’t have any pains …the day before my period I did, I had back pain and felt dizzy and my stomache felt like it was being stretched around the belly button, should I talk to a nurse or doctor about this, is this normal?

well I am 26 so I don’t have to tell mom lol but I don’t have any pain as of now just the day before my period, I did some research and it said something about the lining of my uterus shedding off if it was thick and probaly was since I only bleed one day last month but is that normal to only bleed one day ??? and how much clotting is normal I mean it is like every 15 to 30 minutes just heavy clotting purplish red …there not huge or anything just excessive and they look like tissue too but should it be so much? I can feel them before they come out I have to go to the restroom and finish pushing them out , do you think I should be concerned?

It is probably thick due to the fact your period was so light last time: it can happen like that, as there is just more to come out. I would say, if you are having to change your pad or tampon more than once an hour because of it, then go to see a doctor. The same if it is this heavy for longer than 2 days. Try and take iron tablets in the meantime too, as you will be losing a lot due to bleeding.

I do get this though, as do other women I know, so I would not worry too much. Just keep an eye on it :)

It is normal, it is just that the lining of your uterus has not broken down as much. I get the same thing, but if you are bleeding extremely heavy then I would talk to a nurse. It may be that she could put you on birth control, such as the pill, in order to help lighten your periods and cause you less pain. It can be really effective in this way, not just as a contraceptive.

The pains you were getting just sound like regular period pains. Try heat pads (available from all drugstores) or painkillers such as ibuprofen to help with the pain.

Don’t worry though, you sound normal and many women get clumping like this too.
