Who else thinks ron paul should be the real republican candidate?

Jeremy Goodrich yep, that's me Asked by thedude about 1 year ago, 8 answers.

After last week's fiasco the stupidity put for by Bush, Obama, and McCain, I really, really wish Ron Paul would have been nominated. His cool, collected intelligent comments on the bail out stupidity were the only real leadership that made sense last...

week earlier this week, which helped put to down the bill (thanks to the Republicans who kept their heads on straight).

Is it just me, or is the Ron Paul style of leadership what the country needs most given the state of fiscal crisis in the US?

Honestly I think he'd have turned into another McCain and completely sold out on his beliefs if he was... McCain was actually quite moderate where he started and now look at him...

I agree, he would have been an excellent choice - probably the most aligned with the Constitution intent.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. He certainly has more knowledge of these matters than any other candidate, in either party. Not only do the presidential candidates (and current president) have no idea what they're talking about, but neither does anyone in Congress. They are torn between angry constituents, lobbyists, and their own teams of economic experts.

I don't think so...

He may have more knowledge, but anyone who wants to completely eliminate the IRS is a bit nutty. I also don't agree with strict interpretation of the Constitution, as I believe the founders could have never predicted today's technologies or issues. What else...oh, I do agree with his stance on marijuana, but I don't think that's enough to make me like him =)

Why? Eliminating the IRS and the federal income tax is an excellent idea. I do think it's easier said than done, and I think Paul makes it sound easier than it would be. But what exactly would we lose by eliminating the income tax and replacing it with nothing, as he proposes? Billions of dollars in government revenue...and how is that a bad thing?

The middle class hand over quite a bit of their income to the IRS. The richest Americans, and corporate America, do not. It doesn't matter whether the government tries to raise or lower income taxes on the rich; the tax code is so convoluted they can simply hire tax lawyers to exploit loopholes and save them tons of money. The federal income tax doesn't work, never will, and needs to go.
