Both can be good dogs, but realize that some municipalities do not allow pit bulls. Your insurance may well also increase. Pit bulls can be very protective and territorial, and without proper training, they can show those traits in bad ways.
Whichever one you get, you should go through formal training classes. Those classes not only teach the dog, they also teach the dog owner.
Enjoy, and Good Luck !!
MMM A PITBULL THERE GOOD DOGS IF YU TREATM RIGHT AND DONT PROVOKE THEM TO BE NASTY AN FIGHT OTHER DOGS THERE GOOD PROTECTION DOGS EVERYONE IS SCARED OF EM NO ONE WILL HASSEL YU WITH A PITBULL WE HAD ONE FOR 9YRS NO WOULD COME IN MY BACK YARD NOTHING EVER GOT STOLEN ERE AND OLD SARGE WOULD HAVE LICKEDM TO DEATH ANYWAY because HE WAS A BIG WOOSE
I LOVE German Shepherds, and I like Pitbulls, but I prefer German Shepherds, and you need to make your own decisions. If you want them for guard dogs, I would suggest Pitbull, but, If you want them for companionship, then German Shepherds. These are just based on observations I have made over time, looking at my friends dogs. I also used to have a German Shepherd when I was young, and they are beautiful dogs. They are loving and kind, if you treat them right, and they are excellent guard dogs. So are Pitbulls, but I am biased for German Shepherds.
Britz.
I love pitbulls. but thats me you should get the dog that best fits u. they both can be great dogs in the right hands and killers in the wrong hands. I personally will never own anything but pitbulls cause they fit me and they fit all the attributes that I want in a dog. but remeber this unless trained as guard dogs some pits are the worst guard dogs on earth because of how human friendly they can be. I have a 94Lb pit and a 45lb pit and the big one doesnt even bark . the little one barks all the time but wont do a damn thing to anyone. all they do when strangers come in the house is lick them to death. I guess thats a form of protection
I must say, my neighbors both have German Shepherd rescues and they are so sweet and playful. You should get a good trainer who will train it on the invisible fence, and with a real metal collar. You need to get your own trainer, because German Shepherds require a lot of time and attention. They are very nice dogs, regardless to what many say. Get a rescue, it's a good deed!
GERMAN SHEPHERD I HAVE TWO AND AM PLANNING TO BREED THIS SPRING THEY ARE GREAT DOGS VERY LOYAL VERY INTELLIGENT GREAT WITH THE FAMILY
PITBULL!!! I have had mine for 14 years and now have two of her kidz too!! They have been raised with children in a loving home and we dicipline them the same as they kidz ie-take away toys and send them out the room for 5 mins THEY NEVER GET BEATEN!! And they are the most loving dogs ever!! Dont listen to people that tell you they are vicious, ANY DOG CAN BE VICIOUS IF TREATED BADLY!!! They are just stronger than most oh and make sure ANY big dog you get, you get from a puppy!!! Even if they have had a nice life, the nicest dog in the world may not take to change very well
Thank you deedee12345, I have a pitbull and I love her very much,I have previously owned a minature poodle and had to give him away because he was so aggressive and would bite anyone that came near him. Any dog can be a good dog or bad, its all about the way you raise it and that dogs own temperment. However pitbulls are very strong and come with a bad reputation so if you choose to get one please be prepared for the rude comments. whatever one you choose just make sure you love them give them the time they need and most importantly be responsible! TRAIN THEM RIGHT!
