Where do bees go in the winter?

Yes, they really do hibernate. One of my coworkers is a bee keeper, and he was talking about this subject a few weeks ago.

I dont think they go anywhere I personaly think if there the underground bees they just hide out there otherwise they just die. when they die they obviously dont knock down there hives so bees in like florida will sence that I guess and come to the colder states that are now cool.

And where do the yellow jackets go?? I mean it takes a queen to get any of these guys started, so do they take her somewhere warm?
