My best friend and I are really close, and I have no idea what to get her for Christmas. We are both freshman in college, and I want to get her something practical and meaningful

Maybe you should consider making her something. Those gifts are always a ton more meaningful than purchased items. For my best friend, I'm going to paint her a picture and frame a picture of the two of us : ]
