Ok im going to try and actually answer what I think your asking here... I agree with what your saying it is just labelling like being a gangstar or a goth but... the reason why I believe they get put down is because they are known for hurting themselves and being emotional, which is something society thinks as weak and not right to do (I personally agree), hope I could help to answer for you! ciao

the only reason I dissaprove of emos is because most cut themselves...which I find to be really retarded I mean if you want to die or if your life sucks so bad get professional help,deal with it(like I had to),or kill yourself!!!

by calling yourself emo, in reality aren't you labeling yourself, therefore; setting yourself up for more critical judgement. However; I do agree that people shouldn't judge one another but lets face it we live in a world where we judge based on what we know, and outside (first) inpressions and appearances, our minds were designed to do this and no matter who you are you do it to someone or something regardless of how much you try not to or deny it.

There is NOTHING wrong with being emo. All my friends are emo and they are the sweetest, nicest people you could ever meet. But people never get to know them...they just automatically judge them at first glance based on their clothes and facial piercings. Before you judge someone you should get to know them personally.

True, labeling is stupid. So why do people label themselves? If you dress and act like an emo, you're labeling YOURSELF as an emo. Same as if you dress and act like a 'gangster'. Don't label yourself as something and then expect to not be labeled as one.
