What programming language was used to build funadvice?

rocks Asked by steve over 2 years ago, 1 answer.

I've been on this site for a while now, and I'm curious what programming language was used to build FunAdvice.com? Was it Perl or PHP or something else? And, why was that language chosen?

FunAdvice was built almost four years ago now in PHP. Over the years, it stayed in PHP until August, 2006, when we released the current version of the site more or less as you see now. Every week or two, there are little things that we try to improve, fix, modify, and make better based on user feedback analysis of what's happening on the site.

Currently, the code is Ruby On Rails and ajax or javascript, 99.9% of which was written by esconsult1. Some of the code was written by me, but i'm an amatuer hack when it comes to programming happy The few things I've done were largely based on the RoR framework he put in place to touch up little things.

Hope this helps.
