What is the big deal with israel?

I am always hearing about israel and I would like to know what is the deal with it. Why do countries want to destroy it?

This really is not true. Islam like Judaism and Christianity is an Abrihamic religion. Muslims consider both Christians and Jews to be People of the Book because they follow the revealed word of God in the Torah and Gospels. There are Muslim extremists who are antisemitic but there are Christian extremists who share the same bigotry. Most Muslims consider both Jews and Christians to be their brothers.

Both the Israelis and the Palestinians believe the land is rightfully theirs. Most of the Arab neighbors are supportive of the Palestinians.
