What do you think of schools in your area?

Shark Atack Asked by funadvice about 1 year ago, 10 answers.

We keep hearing about how bad American public schools are, but there is data to suggest it's not a national problem, more of a local problem. So whether it's suburban schools, inner city schools, or private schools, how do would you say the level of K12...

education in your area is?

I live in memphis and the majority of the public schools are under funded and lacking good teachers. my friend is a teacher and the rule is that the last hired or a teacher with negative reviews is assigned to the worst schools. there are a handful of optional public schools that are excellent, well funded, modern, great teachers, award winning art and music programs, etc. but those are few and far between.
the private schools are for the most part white flight schools heavily funded but lacking in academics, instead being just a refuge for those seeking to isolate themselves from anything different and all are christian. there are a handful of catholic schools that are good and a few older private schools that are excellent and are non-denominational.
I believe it is a regional/local problem. I have lived in other cities, some southern, some not, that had excellent school systems across the board.
but for the most part, southern schools are lacking.

my school is a suburban school
its has great education quality, and it was ranked #94 or something on the top 100 schools of america
but my areas full of rich kids too, so it definatly has to do with coming from money
a lot of people move to our town because surrounding districts aren't very good and my town is known for the education quality

Well, I'm from australia. But my school is close by so I can walk to it easily. It's a public school and last year it had a 100% graduation thing. The classes are fun and I love it. It's a good school

I go to foxxy's school. it is sheltered, racist, and boring. all the kida are alchoholics because they are so bored and have nothing else to do. most everyone makes racist, sexist, and predjudice comments. I hate it here.
