My Chemical Romance, AFI, Disturbed, Slipknot, Godsmack,Amon Amorth, Avenged Sevenffold,CREATURE FEATURE, Aiden, Cradle Of Filth, Deathstars, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Emilie Autumn, Nightwish, The 69 Eyes, Eighteen Visions, Black Light Burns, Wednesday 13, Orgy, God Module, MELANCHOLY, Paradise Lost, Therion, Evenessence.
There's a few, enjoy. =]
I agree with all of those but if you like the screaming and weird stuff go for dope and matallica!
Don't listen to them, they don't know what 'Goth' music is if it creeped up behind them! All they know are the popular mainstream bands..
Goth music originated in the 80's as the darkwave movement. If you want to listen to some real Goth mucis I'd Advise:
Siouxsie and the Banshees
The Cure
Echo and the Bunnymen
Sisters of Mercy
Bauhaus
Depeche Mode
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Einstürzende Neubauten
That's the real deal, not the new poser bands that just make a profit without any real creativity.
Armor For Sleep.
Metallica
Disturbed
Soilwork
In Flames
Drowning Pool
Mudvane
Bulett For My Valentine
3 Inches of Blood
Unearth
those are my top picks(not it that order)
Three Days Grace, Evanescence, Avenged Sevenfold and MCR
mostly version_obscure and pmsxd are right
There are LOADS of good goth bands.
Some of my Personal favourites are:
The Sisters of Mercy
The Cure
Bahaus
Siouxsie and the Banshees
These are all classic goth bands, then there is more modern Goth/Metal bands such as
Cradle of Filth
Dimmu Borgir
Nightwish
Within Temptation
Then you can move onto industrial or CyberGoth with
The Cruxsgadows
VNV Nation
Combichrist
Covenent
Goth music is very varied..Hope you find some stuff you like =)
oh and ignore there guys that are giving rock or other metal suggestions - they don't know what they're talking about
Clan of Xymox, Faith and the Muse, Diary of Dreams, Unto Ashes, Rhea's Obsession, Qntal, Joy Division, The Birthday Massacre, Blutengel, Cesium 137, Collide, The Faint, Das Ich, Headscan... Goth bands branch off into many categories (deathrock, darkwave, industrial, gothrock, EBM, glam, synthpop, dark macabre, neo-medieval...) and they're rooted from post-punk in the mid-to-late 70's
*Nods.* A lot of these people who just posted don't really know what goth bands are. They aren't these mainstream bands that we hear on the radio so frequently.
One of the originals (if not the original goth rock band) was Bauhaus. Very good stuff. Siouxsie and the Banshees is excellent, Lacrimosa, Theatre of Tragedy which I enjoy quite a bit. Temple of Rain, Christian Death, The Cruxshadows, and so on. There are many goth bands out there, but, alas, their musical talent is never put to the radio.
My recommendations are Bauhaus, Theatre of Tragedy, The Cruxshadows, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Faithless as well. Can't believe I forgot about them.
half the bands the people before be listed are not even gothic they are other rock geners.
My favs:
Qntal
Faun
Omnia
Corvus Corax
Persephone
Faith and the Muse
Diene Lakaien
Wolfsheim
Inkubus Sukkubus
Diary of Dreams
Clan of Xymox
L'ame Immortelle
alter bridge
breaking benjamin
creed
incubus
korn
marilyn manson(solo)

Yet again, those are not goth bands. Those are mainly rock (and sub-categories thereof).
ladysyrah gives a good list. Inkubus Sukkubus: Very good! Excellent goth rock band.
Kudos on remembering them. :D
Jack off Jill
Inkubus Sukkubus
sorry I didnt include that in one post =O
you're goth and you don't even know any goth bands?
urgh, Nightwish is more opera metal than Goth... =r, besides, the lead woman gives me a headache...
Otep is pwetty cool... ^___^ especially songs like:
Filthee [easily, one of her best]
House of Secrets
Hooks & Splinters
Buried Alive
but she can sing some seriously disturbed stuff ffs.
btw Cradle of Filth is more black/Pagan metal, they go for the whole Satanist/antichrist image.
The Birthday Massacre is ghey. Flat out.
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE ARE NOT GOTH THEY ARE POSERS!!!
BAUHAUS are great
marilyn manson
misfits
slipknot
jack off jill

marilyn mason is a freak ... I must say I do love HIM buh they aren't goth ... love metal with psedo satanism ( they are actually ahiests) I read somewhere that the damned went through a goth phrase .. meh I dont know havent actaully listened to any of the damned music ... even though my mum named me after a song from then ... I got to get aroudn to it lmao seether is not goth ... its not even metal ... its post grunge http://vampirefreaks.com/musicplayer/ it has a lot good music on it ^_^
where the hell did you guys learn about your music genres??!?!?!
There were only a few posters here who actually know what goth music is... people please get a clue!
BAUHAUS is back with a new album called, 'Go Away White' btw (rolling stone)
I wouldnt say that bands like 3 days grace or breaking benjamin are goth. Goth is relatively new so there aren't that many out there but one new one thats realllyyy good it called
I Am Ghost
they do some sick stuff, they even sing in latin and have the whole dark-opera-electric violin- thing going on. there really into the whole vampire thing too.
These are some proper goth albums you should check out:
The Cure - 'Faith', 'Pornography', 'Disintegration'
The Cult - 'Love'
Bauhaus - 'In The Flat Field', 'The Sky's Gone Out', 'Mask'
Bands such as My Chemical Romance, Evanescence, HIM, The Rasmus...etc would be classed as modern goth because of their image or song lyrics. Their influences would probably be from proper 80s goth bands. Some would argue they're not goth at all, but that's a matter of opinion. MCR has some elements of goth in their image and music. Their music video for 'Helena' consisted of a ballet dancer rising from the dead. And the make-up they used to wear was pretty gothic: black or red eyeshadow and pale faces and black hair.
It's the same for Evanescence, really. Frontwoman Amy Lee's image is very gothic: long black hair and dark eyes and beautiful goth dresses. And some songs are creepy and full of emotional or angry lyrics.
