What are the greatest challenges America will face?

So I’m looking up all these goernmental issues and I see all of these problems and all of this controversy, and I’m wondering: What do you think are the greatest challenges America will be facing in ten years, and why?

Answer #1

anko924, there is nothing that prevents the government from effectively printing money to pay off debts, because money has no intrinsic value - it’s just numbers in an account somewhere.

The Treasury plays a shell game with the Federal Reserve to hide the fact that they are basically just printing money. It shows up on the books as debt, but it’s debt that can be repaid indefinitely with more debt, because the Federal reserve is part of the shell game and will always guarantee successful treasury auctions. They can do this, because they have the legal right to create legal tender from thin air.

Since they keep adding money to the system, this causes inflation. So the old debt gets repaid with inflated dollars - it’s the same as if they had just printed money to begin with, but if they were doing that, the average voter would recognize they’re getting constantly ripped off.

Answer #2

That’s almost exactly what I said lol. Thanks anyway :))

Answer #3

Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like you were saying our money just didn’t have enough gold backing it up. I was just stating that it is not backed by gold at all.

Answer #4

anko924, Our money has not been backed by gold for the past 40 years. Our monetary system is nothing but a house of cards…

Answer #5

And that contradicts anything I just said…how…?

Answer #6

Toadaly - - - I’m talking about nationa debt, not inflation. Sure, the subjects are closely related, but don’t tell me America doesn’t have a problem with debt when the evidence can be seen everywhere. Sure, America can print money. But printing money doesn’t necessarily mean that we have the gold to back it up. As citizens, we feel the effects of inflation. The cause? National debt and the lack of gold as currency to back up the value of American dollars. You can create anything, legal tenders, print money…but until you have something to back it up, it has no value. It’s just a piece of paper.

Moral Decline has and will ruin everything. America was based on strong family values, but is out the window for most families these days.

Our morals have not declined. As a society we have modify our morals for the better. Remember, it is not that long ago that segregation was consider moral.

Answer #8

Moral Decline has and will ruin everything. America was based on strong family values, but is out the window for most families these days.

Answer #9

Honestly, an increasingly growing split between uptight, unbending, and sometimes hypocritical conservatives and lazy, layed-back liberals who want nothing more than for everyone else to do their work for them while they complain about order and organization and TRUE freedom, the freedom to do as you like and deal with the natural consequences.

I see a fight of some sort sooner or later, sorta like that little thing in Kansas prior to the civil war. Though not necessarily with bloodshed. And I see other nations taking advantage of this.

The United States as we knew it is dying, and as it is, our culture is dying out and being replaced by those who are actually reproducing, which are, believe it or not, Muslim Arabics and central/south Americans.

Answer #10

I was thinking more along the lines of national debt. Ya know? Because the U.S. spends millions and millions of tax-payers dollars to pay for their shit… they spend more than they collect, and we can’t produce enough currency to get our silly asses OUT of debt. …Then they go and borrow money to help get themselves out of debt. and borrow even MORE to get themselves out of THAT debt. It’s a never-ending cycle, guys. And I think we’ll be facing a serious problem with this is about like, 10 years. Maybe not even that.

Answer #11

*America was based on strong family values

No, it was not.

Answer #12

overpopulation- tons of people simply have many kids carelessly without considering how it will affect the economy and environment.

Answer #13

don’t count on the over population. Look at the US’s relative size and population relative to Britain’s. Although water shortages in certain places, particularly Las Vegas will probably be important.

Decreasing international competitiveness on the world stage, and changes in the balance of power, with China coming to the fore. The US will no longer be the only superpower, and will no longer be able to dictate and do what it wants. Economic factors too, with firms in the US expected to pay health care costs for employees, labour costs are much lower in other countries with ‘socialised health care’ and other systems.

Basically the US is dying, and it’s such a wonderful thing to witness :)

Answer #14

The power grab by corporate interests…

Answer #15

Tyranny.

Answer #16

I would have said, over population.
