What are peoples opinions on graduating high school early?

me Asked by krystal94 20 days ago, 9 answers.

Im a sophmore in high school right now and I have enough credits to graduate at the end of my junior year. I dont see anything wrong with graduating early its just the fact my parents are overprotective so I wonder how they are going to treat me when im...

in college at 17 years old.

Haha I graduated at 17 too! But I'm doing an extra year... Not ready for uni.

There is nothing wrong with graduating early... it shows your intelligent, determined, and hard working...

Haha my parents are the same way, but they just HAD to realize that they want me to further my education and I want to as well, and if they're going to continue being crazy over protective then they're just gonna get in the way of that happening. So they toned it down a lot =P haha

My parents are strict with me in high school and I have asked them questions on how they will treat me in college and they are even strictier and if I graduate early I have to go straight to college.

Congrats thats great! but the downside of that is socially it could be bad for you. Going to college at 17 you can't go to the clubs or different places that your dorm mates go. Since you are under age fincancial aid and everything will have to be dealt with through your parents and if they even choose to make you stay home they can do that since you are a minor and legally they are responsible for you. I have a friend that was a junior and graduated with my class ('09!) she was dating a guy from class of '08 I tried to make her realize that guy was not going to wait for her but just like a 16 year old girl would do she thought he was different and he would never cheat on her because he was so sensitive and told her he loved her in front of people. He couldn't take her to prom cause he was too old but he showed up anyway with his OTHER girlfriend! When she visited him at college he would pretend to be faithful and when she left he was having sex at all the parties with random girls. Because you are younger guys look at you as fresh meat and they will do whatever they can to get what they want from you.

I graduated when I was 16, started college when I was 17. I moved to a different continent and was completely helpless. I'm also horribly shy and to be honest have a hard time making friends. My parents are beyond overprotective and did everything for me. You'll be fine. You'll learn quickly. And your parents have little choice but to let up. I mean if you are moving away from home they cant monitor every move you make, so it would be kinda pointless refusing to let you do something you probably do without them around. Mine also realized that if they wanted me to come home, they had to make it tolerable or I simply wouldnt visit.

It doesn't have anything to do with you being an honors student; they just know that at 17 you aren't ready for that. You may think you are but you're really not. I'm 18 and I regret moving to another state. I think I'm gonna move back home.

I think that is great. Congrats. I graduated high school when I was 16. Then went to a Junior College for a Trade and became a Medical Assistant which lasted about a year and now at 17 im attending a university. My parents didnt want me to graduate early either, but its YOUR FUTURE! so do as you please with it. If you want to graduate Early I THINK YOU SHOULD.!!!
