The only plant referred to as the 'holy herb' would be hyssop (sorghum vulgare). Hyssop was used to clean the temples and other sacred places of the Egyptians.

Here are some verses that people commonly use to defend the use of marijuana:

'God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed which is upon the face of all the earth.…To you it will be for MEAT. … And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.' [Genesis 1:29-31]

' ''And I will raise up for them a PLANT OF RENOWN, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.'' ' [Ezekiel 34:29]

'The Lord said unto me, ''I will take my rest and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs.'' ' [Isaiah 18:4-5]

Granted, the scriptures are pretty vague, as usual. And none of them say anything that would indicate that God REQUIRES us to toke up. But the scripture in Genesis, that refers to plants as 'meat' ...DOES support the belief that every plant (cannabis included) was put on Earth, by God, for us to use/consume/etc. With that in mind, I would conclude that it IS okay to smoke or eat marijuana, but that it is NOT okay to ABUSE it.

I'm not sure - but I wouldn't be suprised if it did. In the past, almost everyone smoked marijuana, it's a plant and it was not uncommen.

I wouldnt think so
but then again, the bible has been changed and re-worded for centuries
smoking weed isnt the best thing to do though
just because its a plant doesnt make it safe
berries come from trees, and some of them can kill you

Marijuana can't kill you though - as long as you don't smoke it.

Not directly, but there are references in the Bible thought by some scholars to be references to psychodelic substances. For example, the bitter drink the priests drunk is argued by some scholars to be a drink made from the plant known as wormwood (which is curiously mentioned in Revelation as well).

The manna in the desert matches exactly the description of psilocybe mushrooms, which were used by ancient pagans to commune with god.

...and then there's wine of course.

So, there is mention of three psychotropic substances in the Bible, used in spiritual ceremonies. But to my knowledge there is no reference to 420, explicit or implicit.

this is merly an observation that I would like to ask.

I am not sure, but would not be suprised if it did, in the past almost everyone did

You are admitting to never reading the bible. In another post sometime ago you stated that the bible was merly a made up story.
But some how you have proof that in that time almost everyone smoked weed. And it was people who followed God. Hmmm.

Captianassisan. thanks for the input.

Well, since the Bible is pretty much up for interpetation, by any and all, it would depend on who you're talking to...if only I'd known that the bible told me to in my wilder days...I would have used it in court! happy

The chemical THC found in weed makes weed a drug. This drug is not legal and therefore it's classified as a street narcotic. Weed does alter ones mood and mindset. Therefore weed is not edifying for us to ingest even though God did create it. It is much more useful purposeful for making ropes and other non-consumed products. The Bible does not condone the use of weed by ingestion by any stretch of ones vain imagination.
