You could gradually introduce whole milk as a replacement- say, you gave him 4 bottles of formula a day, reduce it to 3, and one bottle of milk for ten days, after the ten days, make 2 of the bottles formula, the other two milk, for 10 days, and keep it going. Also, if he's not having this already, make foods similar to yours more common to him- things like mashed veges, grated cheese, mashed or stewed fruit, etc.

With my kids I replaced some formula with milk in their formula bottle. Just 2 ounces at first. So, if they would of drank an 8 ounce bottle they would get 6 of formula and 2 of whole milk. Then 5 days later I would take away 2 more ounces of formula and add 2 of milk. 5 days later take away the other 2 ounces of formula and use all milk. This way they would still have some of the flavor that they were used to but also adding something new into it. By a year old my kids only drank 3 bottles of milk. One in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Good luck
