Was there life before adam and eve?

Asked by meeandnotyou over 2 years ago, 15 answers.

I know all of the theories that Adam and Eve (I even know about Lilith) were the very first two humans upon this Earth but there is a word in the Bible that does not sit well with this theory and is damn near cotradictory in this matter. That word would...

be REPLENISH as from The Holy Bible in Genesis 1:27-28:

27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

In order to RE-PLENISH something it had to be plenished before. For example how do you refill your glass of soda if it were not filled prevously?!? How do you REPLENISH something that has never been plenished (yes it is a real word, look it up if you cannot take my word for it or look it up ).

So tell mee, if the Bible is the infallable Word of God and God says to REPLENISH the Earth to Adam and Eve, does that not state that there was human life here BEFORE Adam and Eve and that life is all gone (or very close to it) and now it is up to Adam and Eve to REPLENISH this formerly plenished world? If this is to much of a denial of all you've been taught and believe can you ATLEAST admit that it is POSSIBLE?

So once again here is one of my religous thought and your submissions will be greatly appriciated and most welcomed, I just ask please no hurt feelings nor anger. So tell mee what you think?!?

I also question this account. There is also another verse that causes questions as to the traditional story of Adam and Eve, Genesis 1:2 says: Now the earth WAS formless and empty . . . almost all translations state the word WAS could be translated BECAME. If this is correct it would mean that there was a world THEN it became void. This to me would mean that Adam and Eve were created Later and apart from God's earlier creations. This could explain the Nephilim in 6:4, the existence of people in the land of Nod. This would also account for the existance of life that carbon dating states as many years earlier than dating from Adam to today, such as the dinanasours dtc.

Okay, first off, that is not a contradiction, it's just that you're reading too much into it. And in the whole scheme of things, this detail is not important. Adam and Eve were the first people on earth. Period.

You are right!! Another example that there were others here be fore Adam and Eve, is when Cane told God that someone might kill him, and God put his mark on Cane so they would not kill him. WHO WAS GOING TO KILL HIM, there wasen't suspose to be anyone except Adam and Eve IT WAS THE NEPHILIM, THE OFFSPRING OF THE FALLEN ANGLES, You are right on, The Angles that were kicked out of Heaven, Read again and you will see who the father of cane was, EVE had 2 kids, one was good and one was evil. Keep reading and ask God to show you,He will. YOU ARE NOT READING TO MUCH INTO IT, Do a search on GOD and FALLEN ANGLES.

It's just a bunch of stories people came up with to explain their existance when they had no clue where they came from thousands of years ago. don't worry about it it's not important. the truth is in science and evolution, humans evolved from primate ancestors, and further back a small furry mammal that was probably primates ancestor and so, on. and yes there was an abundance of life before Humans including the dinosaures, and even further back, eukaryotes etc. just saying the facts no offence..

I believe there was life before adam and eve. if you look at the first and second chapters of genesis, there are major differences if it were talking about one set of life - adam and eve. I will outline: genesis chapter 1, God creates plants and animals before he creates man. in chapter 2, God creates man before he creates plants and animals. chapter 1, God's command to man and woman was to multiply and be masters over all life, to subdue the earth. and he also says he has given them ALL the fruit trees to eat. now in chapter 2, God's command to man was to tend the garden, not to multiply and subdue the earth. aslo the tree of knowledge of good and evil was forbidden. there are too many differences to me to be talking about adam and eve both times.

Perhaps if we were to consider Adam Eve as being the first true Homo Sapiens to walk the Earth, then the 6000 year theory could have some credence.

Also if we were to believe in a oscillating universe when there were many Big Bangs, going back in time to infinity, then this could explain what God was doing before He created Heaven and Earth.

Yes there was life before Adam and Eve. Klight20, you hit it on the nail by saying there are too many differances. Genesis 1:27 proves this too us. Some have said that it was a mistake that God made and that he destroyed the early humans. First of all God doesn't make mistakes. Sin is what makes mistakes. And if God can kill off everyone on the face of the earth by a big flood in Gen 7:21, then why cant we suppose that this happened before Adam and Eve. This is implied in Gen 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, Darkness was over the surface of the DEEP.. In the age of the bible the DEEP was refered to as the ocean. Hence Lucifer's flood.

No where is it stated how many years are between Gen 1:1 and Gen 1:3.

Like Jackson2222 said, ask God to show you and he will.

Hi,
I am not sure which Bible translation you are reading from, but the KJV, NIV, NASB all state the following in Gen. 1:28 God blessed them, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

Note the word replenish does not exist, so it seems you have been reading a bad translation of God's word, which in turn as sent you down a false path. This is why it is sooo important you read an approved acturate translation based on the original manuscripts.
Hope this helps!
Blessings

Gods religion guide us. More important is life after death. While we are strong here in this world, talk you heart out.
When we die we cant lift a finger. Those who believe in God has reasons to do so. But those who are not interested why bother yourself.

Of course there was life before Adam and Eve, there was other life here when Adam and Eve were here too.
think about this, Adam and Eve had sons, those sons took wives, if the bible is correct and Gods children were the only ones on earth, where did the get wives from?
Answer, the people that were here already.

Yes the bible does say that adam and eve should replenish it. It does not imply that the creatures before them were human. What I believe is that deamons were here on earth before humans. Most prople think that fallen angles are humans, but thats wrong. If you do some research deamons and fallen angles are to different thing. There are actually ancient summarian texts that talk about angles and deamons before the creation.
