Nope, little miss muffet sat on a tuffet.
Couldn't tell you who wrote that though.

Well, one story is that Dr. Thomas Muffet wrote it to depict his daughter, Patience, in the 1600's.

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet
Eating her curds and whey,
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

As for who lived in the shoe, all I recall is that it was an old woman. She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children, she didn't know what to do.
She gave them some broth without any bread,
Then whipped them all soundly and put them to bed.

Maybe it was Patience in her later years? *Grin*
