Yeah, you should be able to tune it with a guitar tuner. Since the strings are thicker, it does resonant as a lower frequency, but a guitar tuner should be able to pick up multiples of the frequency (different octaves).
No need to adjust the Hz (Hertz) because that's to tweak your tuning if you don't want to play in Concert A (A=440 Hz usually).

Tuning a bass with a guitar tuner ?
Does anyone know if its possible to tune a bass with a guitar tuner, since the bass strings are thicker I guess they are vibrating slower, so what is the hz setting?
