Tried to play a game an error came up

Well I bought this game called dreamfall:the longest journey for pc
And I installed it and stuff
But now I go to click to play it
It comes up with failed to initialize direct3d.aborted
What does that mean? What do I have to do?
Im very confused

I used to have similar problems before I upgraded my pc. Now I have a geforce 8600 512mb and 2gb ram

oh yeah I just checked
my graphics card SUCKS
and its not compatible with the game
oh well, looks like im gunna have to get the right kind
