Too much salt

Newest Asked by babygirl1220 about 1 year ago, 9 answers.

Ok so today I was makin pasta and a scampi sauce and I thought I put garlic powder in it but I put garlic salt and it was a ton and I had to throw all the sauce out cause it was unbearably salty
So my ? Is does anyone know a way to take away salt or...

off set salt from food?
Oh and anyone else done something like that when they were cooking?

Putting the potato or potato skin will help remove salt. Also sugar will offset small overdoses of salt. The reverse is also true, salt will counteract too much sugar. But the potato suggestions will help the most.

Once you over salt something, there's really nothing you can do.

Yeahh, basically what mandyloo said. You can't really unsalt something, unforunatly.
I do that to my mashed potatos all the time.

I know, I know, put some potato skins in there and let them soak and they will soak up any excess salt then just take the peels out, mwa

if it's liquid enough, boil potatos in it, they will absorb salt . if not to salty you can use the potatos which ever way you like them ,

Another vote for the potato. It really does work, especially with soups and stews...

Another way is to make more sauce with out salt. you might have a little left overs, but it is better than tossing away.
