Nobody is born with knowledge of any deity. Which particular religion you are indoctrinated into is largely determined by where you grow up. Indians are raised as Hindus, Saudi Arabians as Muslims, Americans as Christians, etc. Of course, there are pockets where other beliefs thrive in most of these countries.

The bible says to train up a child in the way that they should go, and they will not depart from it.

A young person that is taught about God, may stray from the truth, but, the chances are very great, that they will return to the faith they had as a child, at some point in their lives.

However, if a child has no one in the family to teach them about God, they have to learn on their own, as they grow.

I have no memory of anything related to god prior to 1st grade, when I began attending Sunday school. I do however recall realizing Santa wasn't real in kindergarten. Not all of us were born knowing about god.

I think most of us learn about God more as we grow.

We weren't born knowing any thing because our memories are wiped clean before we incarnate in order to allow us to have a clean slate upon which to attempt to accomplish the goals we chose for our current incarnation.

I choose

I chose to be born, – to live or die,
Even the sex, that would be I;
I chose the race, from which to appear,
Also my wealth, my health and my fear.

I chose my trials and stumbling blocks,
And the legs I would use, in all of those walks;
I chose my sadness, my joy and my love,
I chose to serve and not be above.

I chose this life – with all of its dues,
And with each dawn, again I choose;
The experiences for me that wait ahead,
To be alive, or be claimed dead.

And of the future lives I've yet,
It is my choice that I begat;
All the things, however pleasin',
That shall befall me in those seasons.

From my chosen path I stray,
Yet my God any'er turns away;
For I have learned -- and understand,
That where God is -- is where I am!

Hey, Dad: My heart overflows with joy knowing you raised your daughter in the way she should go!
We learn more and more about the Lord every waking minute (some dreams, too) as we go on living for Him. The notion of letting all this worldly stuff clutter our brains is also annoying.
One of our pastors who came to faith in his 40's (his father was a minister) said it was like God took off the top of his head and funnelled in His Word. Filled him with the fullest measure! What a blessing that man of God was for our congregation.

More of Him, less of me.

I think we're born with some kind of inate spirituality which recognises God at an emotional level. But I think that knowledge and/or understanding of God won't develop from that spirituality without opportunity to learn and experience Him.

Our parents are suppose to be the example of God's love, but in most situations they wind up being the worst examples of pure love. the child is usually drawn to or repeled by their own parents. If the parents believe the children get that example and they will eventually get their own view of him. The parents also teach the child that we all make mistakes but learn from them how to do the right things.
