Peeling on my new tattoo

Asked by dallasfan2008 about 1 year ago, 7 answers.

I recently got a color tatoo on saturday and this morning I woke up and it was peeling but I have a black ink only on my other arm and it didnt do to much peeling.I was just curious if it's normal. And I know all tatoo shops are supposed to be sterile...

and one of my friends told the tatoo shop I went to wasnt but I guess some people are jealous and cant afford to get one.But I hear they were really good to go to.

Peeling is actually common after gettting a tattoo - particularly ones that are filled in.

It doesn't always happen, I have 8 tattoos and only 2 peeled.

Don't scratch or pick at it. Use a small amount of lotion to keep it from getting too bad.

If there is excess swelling, pus, or redness then you should see a doctor for the possibility of infection.

Just use a good lotion... call the place you had it done at and see what they think would be best to use if you want to =]

I got a color tat on my back and yes I was freaked out when it started peeling it was my first tat and I heard peeling was bad. But I kept moisture on it didn't get it wet for a week which was pretty hard seeing its on my back and kept it uncovered. After a while it stopped peeling as much and I began washing it with nuetrogena body wash to make sure there was no bumps or anything because I have really sensitive skin. I still use it today but I don't think it makes a difference its just my skin is sensitive. I also used this stuff called tattoo goo and I applied it every two hours until the peeling began to stop. as a student in medical school I found out that our skin always peels its natural no we don't just see it shed off but the reason is to get rid of dead cells that surface to your epidermis layer when you get a tattoo you replace those cells with ink that soaks into your dermis layer only when your skin peels you are simply seeing the skin that shed but in color caused by the ink..Don't be alarmed only if you start seeing puss or white or clear fluids should be alarmed that either your body is rejecting it or there is an infection present... I hoped this helps you...

its completely normal. my mom got her first tattoo this year and it was colored in. hers peeled for the first 2 weeks but you can not pick at it or it will ruin the tattoo forever! and you didnt spend that much to have it ruined! so just put some lotion on it and leave it alone and it should be fine.
