Can you get stds from oral sex?

I want to ask my girlfriend for a blowjob, but I heard you can get std's from it...could anyone explain how this can happen?

A myth about STDs is that you can't get them if you have oral or anal sex. That's wrong because the viruses or bacteria that cause STDs can enter the body through tiny cuts or tears in the mouth and anus, as well as the genitals.
You could contract an STD if she has Gonorrhea of the throat, Herpes, and Genital Warts of the mouth. Likewise she could get an STD just as easily by performing oral on you.
A person can get some STDs, like herpes or genital warts, through skin-to-skin contact with an infected area or sore.

To be safe, use a condom.

because your girlfriend could have a sore in her mouth, or a cut, and then the sperm/semen from ejaculation could be infected with an s.t.d. and then could be transferred to her. :l

And if neither me or she has an std and if we are both virgins?

If both of you are clean, then you can't get an STD.
