Should the state control liquor sales?

it’s different from regulating. The state buys the liquor, sells it, determines what price they will sell/buy it at and sell it out of government stores only.

Yes

Only within reason. Prohibition was obviously a bad idea, although alcohol is involved in many accidents and deaths. There’s a healthy middle ground between the two extremes. State liquor laws need to be in place to separate the reasonable and responsible drinkers from the reckless and irresponsible ones.
