When you deal with your kids you just need to be nice, patient, and also try understand them as best as you can. Have fun activities and stuff like that. Get to know the kid, find out the things she/he likes and try to fit around that. You can get started by making flyers, or by drawing funky pictures yourself advertasing that you babysit. Spread them around the neighborhood and to your friends perents and stuff like that.

The first thing you’ll need to do is get a babysitter license. If you’re starting a business, you’ll also need to get a business licence and a facility at which you can keep the children at. If you’re looking to do something casual for people in your town, I suppose you could do this at home and not call it a business, but rather just offer your services to people by posting up ads and making papers at which people can rip pieces of paper with your phone number off of.

Getting your babysitter license to take care of children isn’t a MUST, but if you have the license, chancer are that parents will feel a lot more comfortable having you take care of their children. This, obviously, means that you will be able to get more money.

As for things that help.. first thing you should do if you’re having more than one child is make a form for each parent to fill out. Make a space for all known allergies that the parents can fill in, emergency contact information in case something happens with their child, etc. If you’re going to be providing meals for the children while they’re there, figure out how much the food will cost for you BEFORE you make a price for the parents. Also be sure to make a time slot for them to fill in, at which you’ll be able to know approximate times as to how long you’ll have the children.

When you have all that said and done, plan on what you’ll do with the children to keep them entertained. Plan games, crafts, and other activities. The week before you plan on doing it, let the parents know so that they can send their child prepared with proper clothing or material, if needed. (For activities outside, children need to be dressed appropriately.) When you have the kids, be patient, understanding, and caring. Children need to enjoy your presence, so if you feel stressed out (which is bound to happen), find some safe and good ways to de-stress yourself (breathe, take a minute, etc).

I hope that helps!
