Ssi questions for teens who all so have it

Ok well I am 17 and I am getting ssi so I have a few question's for other teens under 18 with ssi first off do you get any of your money to spend on w,e you want ? is your ssi spent on just you and the thing's you need and possibly part of the rent ?

What is ssi?? is that social surcerity insurance or something??

My dad was recieveing it for me since I was 4, I never got a dime, my dad spent all of it :| I turned 18 last year..

It's spossed to be going for things you need. Clothing, food, ect.. If your living on your own it can go to rent, but the point is, it's your money, use it on anything you want but make sure you're taking care of yourself.

Some advice though, your only going to get it until your 18, save it and think about what you want to do with it.. go to college, apartment downpayment, buy a car.. lot's of important choices.
