you should get between 8-10 hours of sleep.
I have the same problem, even if I am really tired in the evening, once it hits 12, I can not sleep...not matter what.
good luck

I believe the least amt of sleep that one should get is 6 hrs, but 8 hrs are recommended.
I discovered something recently and I'd like to share it.
I'm 54 and I couldn't tell you when I've ever had a good nights sleep. . .that is, until recently. I have always slept with the T.V. on all night (and day). The other night I decided to try listening to peaceful music. Wow! I should have done it a long time ago. I, actually had a good night and didn't feel too bad when I woke up (as I usually do). So, if you sleep with the T.V., try switching to music. I bet you won't regret it.
