dude, if you can't hit high notes, your screwd, to say the least. I don't know what you got your self into but it doesn't sound good. Singing is a natural talent that not all people are born with. If you can reach those high notes but you just keep barely missing them, then try like..moving your hands up with the high notes..almost like your directing yourself to go higher..that's what my personal trainer tells me when I'm going a little flat and I'm tellin you it works everytime.

Straining to hit high notes can be really bad for your vocals. (you can develop vocal nodules). It takes a lot of time and years of careful, professional training to reach high notes in the whistle register like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

If you're serious about developing your whistle register then you should get a professional vocal teacher who can guide you safely through exercises.

A few tips.

1. Don't strain, it'll ruin your voice. Only go as high as you can.

2. Practice! When it comes to singing, you HAVE to practice. Do scales, warm ups, whatever.

3. Maybe you could invest in a singing coach. They can help a lot.

if you cant hit the high notes, dont strain your voice. you will end up ruining it, and trust me...the world already doesnt have enough people singing...we need more! I am a first soprano and I have had this problem. in order to get up to my high notes, I raise my eye brows to raise your soft pallet, this will help you stay in tune as you go up. keep singing!

The advice here is good - especially 'look after your voice'! One of my teachers used to tell me to think about the top of my head (it's similar to the 'raising the eyebrows' advice). That works for me. And also, be very well-warmed up with lots of singing exercises (or even just gently singing easier tunes) before you go for the high notes.
