It won't make your laptop slow trust me, that's all I use to play my sims on.The only thing is, if you're a true fan then keep an eye out for Sims 3 at the beginning of next year. There's a lot more interaction, you can actually go into peoples homes instead of them coming over your. Along with over improvments.. So I say go for it to calm your withdrawl down.

Do you have any other consoles? Like PS2 or Nintendo DS? If you have a PS2, the very 1st Sims game is ideal for playing. You can put in cheats and (I think) you can have 2 player mode. If you have the Nintendo DS, a brilliant game to play is Sims: Castaway. It is VERY addictive. The Sims 2 for the DS also looks very funny, although I haven't played it myself. I watched a friend play it though, and it was really quite funny to watch some of the characters getting really annoyed with the character you play. I'm sorry to say I've never played The Sims on PC. But I am aware that there are certain Sims games you need to install before you can play some of the other Sims games. I have no idea why though.
