I am tired o fmy famiyl tlaking about cutters and talking crap abotu them. Just satruday (my birthday), my brother was making fun of all EMO people saying that they are cutters. I am not EMO but yes I used to cut I am now 8 months into not cutting. How do you get people to stop talking about it around you. There is so much more than just it being a behavior, there is a lot more that goes with it. Its not jsut somethign you do, you dont do it for attention at least real cutters dont. I just need them to stop bringing it up. They dont know I was ever a cutter

Ask your parents and brother you don't like hearing about suicide and Self-Harming. That's really an unnecessary topic.

It might be best to tell them. If you've stopped doing it then I doubt that they'll take you to a Hospital or something, as long as you explain the situation. They'll be upset that you would do that to yourself, but happy you told the truth.

Good Luck!

Well lil blue, take it easy today. When I find that I'm having a hard day, I just sit somewhere alone/go somewhere and pray to GOD. If you aren't religious then place yourself around other happy individuals, laugh with them, talk with them. On the flip side I can understand what it feels like to hear your family talking about something that holds worth to you. I say simply leave when they mention it or explain to them why cutters cut. Maybe they just don't know enough about it. People often judge things by what they know and if they don't know much then chances are they will have more negative stuff to say verses positive.

I know it can be hurtful to hear things people say about something that is very personal to you and they dont know what the hell they're talking about...
You could try educating them, but honestly that has never worked in my experience...
Just try and remind yourself that cutting is something that only a self injurer can understand. I dont care how much research, how much you've studied or whatever you've done, unless you've hurt yourself, you cannot really understand... And to most people, pain is so repulsive it just makes no sense whatsoever...
People are simply ignorant, and you cannot take that personally...
