Why do we need school 5 days a week?

WHY DO WE HAVE TO HAVE SCHOOL 5 DAYS A WEEK??

You don't actually have to have school 5 days a week, but it is dependent on your age, what country you live in, and your school's policies and class structure.

When I was in High school, I was able to arrange my own timetable any way I liked, provided I was in school for 20 hours a week. My school did classes from 8:40 am til 9:00pm, so in theory, I could have organised my timetable to have classes from 8:40 til 9:00 2 days a week, and had 5 days off.

The reason most schools structure the timetable in such a way as having school 9-3 for 5 days a week is so the time you are required to be in school learning is spread out into manageable pieces. The amount of time you are required to be in school is calculated by how much time the School/Board of education think you need to take in various classes to learn the syllabus for particular subjects in that particular year of school. When you are younger in High school, there are more compulsory subjects, so you spend more time at school, whereas when you get towards the end, there are less compulsory subjects, so you can mix your timetable around a bit and take on more classes you're interested in.

I have no idea, I think that schools shoul;d be more like the one in newcastle, only havin 9 minutes a day, I was really surprised when I heard about that. I wish all schools were like it.

ya it just depends where you lvie and what country you are in... like I trhink china has school 6 days a weak no school on sunday...

because thats how much time it takes to teach all the subjects necessary?
some people learn faster, some people learn slower, they've averaged it out the best they could and spread it out over 5 days...
Also this way parents can work without worrying about what to do with their kids...

Probably beacuse that is how many days a normal job is, and school is your job, even if no one is paying you.
