wrote a check to the DMV). I said oh, ok, w/o saying thank you. I forgot to say thank you because we were really busy doing something. My dad gave me crap about it the next day. Whenever he does something like that, it makes me feel guilty, and I don't then see the value of saying thank you just for saying it. Any comments?

I dont know... my parents dont exactly expect a thank you for giving me money...(that would be like thanking them for making dinner), but I guess he wants to feel like you appreciate it?
