What does she do after 'few weeks' runs out ? - appears you've volunteered to put yourself in the middle of what may be a bad situation, I don't know...I wish you the best !!

Dear katie_ere,
Yes, the police can be called and they can bring her back home. I know you want to be a good friend but you will be putting yourself and your family in a middle of a bad situation. If things are so bad at home she needs to go to Children's Services and explain it to them. Sometimes following rules seems like a prison sentence but we all have to follow rules either at home, school, work etc. Just because we don't like them doesn't mean we don't have a responsibility to follow them. If she is being abused then by all means have her come to your home then you call the police and children's services. If she is abused and stays with you and you don't call these places you can be in for a huge fine and more trouble than you started with.
Sue...good luck

It depends on how old the person is, and if they have their parents' permission.

In Texas, a girl can legally leave home without her parents' permission at 17 years old; it's different in different locations.

don't know how old she is...but if shes a minor and goes to your house... in alot of states your parents can be charged with kidnapping if they dont tell her parents shes at your house (believe it or not)...

best thing you can do it be there for her... but other than that don't get overly involved

Stay out of it. If she doesn't want to live at home, have her talk with someone who can help her.

Plus, and I may be wrong, I think you can get into trouble too. For harboring a runaway.
