It COULD happen but in most cases I would say that it wouldnt work. Things get messy when you are together so often. One person normally starts having feelings for the other one.

It's called friends with benefits. If you are late teens or early twenties it can work for a while. Usually one or the other ends up falling for their bed partner, and then it gets a bit messy.
