Why is Responsibility an important character trait?

Because it shows your own personal abilty, like say for instance, your responsibility was ... to feed the cat, and you did that well, people would see that you were trustworthy and stuff, and then they would realise that you were mature and responsible, and would like, be more confident in you, and maybe then they'd like, like you babysit their kids? know what I mean? x
