In my towen is a lot of stray animals. We rescued a kitty a couple months ago. we take good care of her but she is still hostale. She doesnt bite, but she growls and hisses and hates to be picked up. How long will it take before she gets nice?

It could take several more months...you don't say how old the kitten might have been when you took her in...I kinda go by how old they were when rescued, and double the time...a 4 month old...8 months to rehabilitate...6 months, a year...Give or take the basic personality of the kitty...Some are naturally more calm, some more hyper...

We rescued a cat who wasn't feral, but had been on his own for a while...He's a lover now, but it still took 3 months for him to figure out that he was in good hands.

it could take months... my cat took a year before she would come to me willingly... she still doesnt like being picked up... wont sit in my lap, and she wont let anyone else near her...

My old cat Dave, was born under my bed...never had a feral day in his life...But by nature...his personality style...he never sat on laps, and complained LOUDLY if I picked him up...So, even if she gets tame, she may not be terribly affectionate by nature...it's the luck of the draw. Frankly, I liked Dave the way he was...his idea of 'affection' was patting me on the face...Hubby, however missed having a lap cat to nap with...

you might have already done this but just some advice, take the kitten in for a checkup if there are a lot of strays in the area it might have feline lukemia and need to be treated or put down the stray we took in ended up having it.

Give your cat time; she may be scared yet for quite a while. Eventually, she'll realize you love her and she'll trust you explicitly. By the way, congratulations on your kindness for rescuing a stray!
