You need to sit down and talk to your parents about WHY you are a Christian and how important your religion is to you. I'm an atheist, but if my son was to become a Christian I would support him and love him all the same. You just need to sit down and talk to them - tell them to please respect your religion.
I doubt your parents hate you because you are a Christian.
They are probably trying to raise you the best way they know how. I'll bet that they simply want you to have the best life that you can and from their worldview religion is a hindrance to it.
If my daughter told me that she was a Christian I would probably try to reason with her to save her from a life of bronze age myths, superstitions, and taboos but regardless of what she believed I would still love her.
the Christian God seems like one of the worst gods
I don't LOVE the Christian god but it really doesn't matter. It is only as worse as you see it
You're parents are right. Get out of that mind control cult as quickly as you can.
K...That doesn't make sense.
Just talk to them and find oput why they dislike the religion and not just it's a bad influence. What is you're parents religion? I can help better with more info.
Hope this helps, come to me if you need help
Oh come on, people - you can't condemn all religions just because some of them have been narrow-minded at times!
Religion covers an enormous range of beliefs - it's impossible to generalize. Even within Christianity there is everything from the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox side of things, through the vast range of Protestant groupings that include everything from Lutherans to Unitarians, Pentecostalists and Quakers.
So anyone who wants to condemn religion will need to be specific.
Now, back to that question: It does seem odd that your parents object so strongly. Mind you, you didn't mention which church you go to - maybe they consider it too extreme? I agree with mandyloo - this is something you and your parents ought to sit down and talk about.
And in the meantime, if you find consolation in your religion, do so! You don't have to sit in church for that.
All those who desire to live a life hid in Christ will be persecuted! I was, even in my own dad who was raised in church because I would leave work on Sunday to drive 60 miles to church. But, he now supports me when he realized the conviction in his heart and mine that all we have is not ours, but has been given to us to manage for this short while.
