Red hair dye washes out in my hair

I have dyed my dark brown hair red, but the red color keeps washing out. Is there something I can do to my hair to keep the color from washing out so fast?

there are shampoos and cremes that you put in your hair that help protect hair color from washout.

ALL RED THAT IS PUT IN PEOPLE HAIR DONT STAY IN LONG I KNOW I HAVE HAD MINE DONE SO MANY TIMES AND IT KEEPS COMING OUT AND I ASK THE LADY THAT DOES MY HAIR AT THE SALON AND SHE SAYS ITS THAT WAY IF YOU DONT HAVE NATURAL RED HAIR IT COMES OUT I HAD RED PUT IN MY HAIR WITH BLONDE AND CARMAL AND THE RED WENT OUT IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS... PAYED a lot OF MONEY FOR THAT AND THATS WHAT HAPPEN...

red doesn't hold in ANYONE'S hair. if you really want it to stay longer, wash your head in ONLY cold water. that will help a bit, but not much. Just dont' dye your hair red.

Red holds in my hair now that it is back in good shape. Make sure you are using a good conditioner and your hair is in good shape. You can buy shampoos and conditioners that are formulated to help maintain hair color also. I just use Image hair care products for dry hair and mine is doing great. I usually have to color about every 2 months because my gray starts to show a little and I refuse to go gray yet.

You have to make sure your using the right type of dye as well. Try lorel preference? Since red is a very hard color to keep your going to have to get the expensive stuff. Sorry guyss,

Yeah yeah! There is this wicked shampoo by Schwartkopf... its especially for girlies wil red hair, and I used to swear by it.
I had a lush cherry red on my hair, and it kept it like that for aaages because it has some of the elements of hairdye in it.
