Red eyes in some pictures

Why do I find my eyes or someone else's eyes red in some pictures?! Is it because of the flash or what?

Yeah I think its just the flash, that actually happens a lot, its no big deal.

Yah it's from the flash it was my sister's birthday we took so many picture's I really laughed at my fiend because her eye's were red like a scary movie ha ha ha

It's the flash. Most digital cameras now have a redeye setting to eliminate this. If not you ca do what I used to do. I took a film canister, one of those little plastic ones, and cut it out so that it fit over the flash on my camera. It acts a diffuser and helps eliminate the red eye. It also helps stop wash out.
